On my own again

Bad news: they are transferring Kim to a different school. She leaves tomorrow, and actually I get to go with her because they have to help me renew my passport/visa or something in Tegus on Monday (so I also get to skip school on Monday, which I'm quite excited about.) It's kind of a long story, but things with her class were a mess from the start. She started with two students -- one of them decided she really didn't like the school about a week in, and the other student pretty much got kicked out for bad behavior. It was just a bad situation. Anyway, so she was left with no students. We joked that they were going to move her or send her back to the states....and then it actually happened. Well, not back to the states, but to the other school in Choluteca. Apparently a teacher just quit there, so they are going to have her go teach elementary English there (a teacher also just quit here...so doesn't really make sense to me...). Anyway, she basically begged them to let her stay here (we've actually lost two teachers since the beginning of the year -- they finally replaced one of them yesterday -- but she would still have classes to teach). Anyway, to no avail. Apparently our school can't afford it. Shock. So Kim feels super bad about leaving me (I think she actually feels worse than I do about this) -- after having lived here, I think she's maybe one of the only people who can kind of imagine what it would be like to live here by yourself. Plus it hasn't helped that I was always telling her how I couldn't believe I had actually survived it here by myself this fall and how it was SO much better having her here. So, not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed -- I just can't believe I have to go back to walking everywhere by myself again, eating the weird meals our family gives us by myself, waiting at the bus stop by myself, etc. But don't worry, I'm going to stop being dramatic and feeling sorry for myself and instead be optimistic  -- first, now I at least have more things to do that I didn't have in the fall like ESL classes and swim lessons -- and second, we only have one marking period left. So time will go by fast. There's only one week until Spring Break (Kim and I are still going together to Guatemala), then two weeks until the big inter-school competition in Tegus (that's a week long), then Rose is coming to visit the first week of May, and then school gets out June 22nd. Besides, if I survived it here by myself for five months this fall, I can surely survive it here for three more.
